What to do in Tenerife

Because this island, and all of the Canary Islands, have the perfect year round temperatures, it is the best place for both professional and amateur sports.  The range of sports that are done here are vast and allows visitors many choices for sporting adventures.  Cycling is just one sport that is a great way to get away from the tourist crowds and spend time in the hills by yourself, or with friends.  Many visitors come here for the hiking and not to lounge around on the beach or to hang out in the bar. Tenerife holidays are very popular with people from all over the world.  There is just something about spending your holiday on an island where there is lots of sun and sand and crystal clear waters.

Golf is also big on this island and it has hosted the international Open’s. Golf courses are not in abundance here but what is here is rated high.  Deep sea fishing is offered from many of the resorts where you can make use of fully equipped fishing trips. Among the catches found here are: tuna, shark, barracuda and sailfish.  Scuba diving is another irresistible activity that is popular here.  Divers here will enjoy the sights of groupers, turtles, tropical fishes, rays and sometimes even a shard or two.  Canary Island holidays are full of adventure and history and offer something for everyone.
Water skiing is another sport that you can try if you have never tried before and if sailing is in your blood then you can rent a catamaran for a day. There are also yachts available for longer trips if that is what you are looking for. If tennis is your thing, most of the hotels on this island have tennis courts. If playing tennis at night interests you, the Hotel de Las Palmeras has lighted courts that you can use.  Carting is another sport that appeals to both the young and old alike.  There are two places for carting and the tracks are different in their speed and size.  Carts can be rented in child size and adult size. Windsurfing can be done from just about any beach here. No matter where you are around the island, there is always a good breeze where you can windsurf to your heart’s delight.  Wrestling is also popular on the island and is a spectator sport that is attracts tourists from all over.
