Technically standing on the border between the United States and Canada, Niagara Falls is one of the most popular tourist destinations of both countries. These falls are also one of the natural wonders of the world, and brings in millions of tourists from all over the world every year.
Niagara Falls is actually composed of three separate water falls, divided by the Canadian and United States border. The largest one is Horseshoe Falls, and it belongs to Canada. It is divided from the others by Goat Island. The other two, Bridal Veil Falls, and American Falls, are on the United States side.
Horseshoe Falls is 170 feet high, and eventually empties into Lake Ontario. Next is American Falls, which is mostly half the girth of the former, standing at only 70 feet. Both Canada and the United States use these falls as a source of power, which produce around 4.4 GW of power. This makes Niagara Falls the most valuable, and powerful, waterfall in all of North America.
Spotlights shine on these falls on both sides, so it can be seen in daylight or at night. Both are sights not to be missed on your next vacation.
